Belmont-based GR Engineering Services has secured further work on a large tin operation in Tasmania, under a contract worth nearly $24 million.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract involves work at the Renison tin mine, located 15 kilometres northeast of Zeehan.

It was awarded from Bluestone Mines Tasmania which owns 50 per cent of the operation.

The other half is owned by Perth-based Metals X which recently sold its nickel assets to focus on the development of its tin projects.

GR Engineering has been tasked with the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a new paste backfill plant and associated infrastructure at Renison.

The company was also awarded with a $7.8 million EPC contract to design, supply and install new transforms and HV switchgear for Bluestone’s existing main switchyard.

GR Engineering managing director Geoff Jones said the contractor has worked with Bluestone on a number of projects in the past two years.

“We look forward to continuing our work with Bluestone Mines using GR Engineering’s team in Queensland and Tasmania,” he said.

GR Engineering has started work on both Bluestone projects.

Today's announcement follows a string of EPC-related contracts awarded to GR Engineering this year, totalling more than $450 million.

GR Engineering's shares were unchanged this afternoon, closing at $1.90.
