CURRENT deputy director general of the Department of Planning and Infrastructure, Paul Frewer, will be the acting director general of the new State Government Department of Water. Intended to help the Government make informed, long-term water management decisions, the department is expected to be created by November this year. Issues such as drainage, water resource management plans, evaluations and assessments of sustainable water availability will all be dealt with by the new department.
