Power generation company Pacific Energy has appointed James Cullen as its new chief executive, following Adam Boyd’s retirement from the role in March.

Mr Cullen, who resigned from his role as the head of mining equipment supplier Resource Equipment in July last year, is an experienced business executive in the mining services sector.

Prior to his six-year tenure at Resource Equipment, he was chief executive of PCH Group for 14 years.

Pacific Energy chairman Cliff Lawrenson said Mr Cullen brought tremendous leadership credentials to the role and a proven ability to successfully grow businesses during the mining cycle.

“The board considers that James’s skills and background will ensure Pacific Energy’s existing operations continue to be advanced while also identifying opportunities to grow the company,” Mr Lawrenson said.

Mr Cullen is a chartered accountant, holds a bachelor of commerce and a graduate diploma in applied finance.

He is also a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He will receive a fixed remuneration of $495,000 per annum.

Pacific Energy shares were 1.1 per cent lower to 42.5 cents a share at 1pm.
