SOMEHOW football has found its way to the breakfast table and it has proved a winner for 6PR in the forth radio ratings survey of the year.

The All New 92.9 has taken a big hit in the breakfast timeslot losing 2.2 per cent leaving the station just 0.8 per cent ahead of its nearest rival 96FM.

The survey has proved better news for the breakfast team at 6PR, Baz and Barra have picked up 2.1 per cent.

According to 6PR general manager Shane Healy it’s all about AFL.

“I think 6PR has benefited from the fact that they are dominating the football,” Mr Healy said.

“And 96FM did pretty nicely.”

96FM also increased its breakfast audience share by 1.3 per cent and overall the station picked up 0.9 per cent.

In the fast-moving world of talk back radio the ratings have remained pretty steady although Liam Bartlett’s absence has perhaps prompted ABC 720’s 0.8 per cent dip.

Paul Murray on 6PR managed to increase his audience share by 0.6 per cent.

The evening timeslot has proved another big winner for 6PR this round of ratings has added another 2.7 per cent for 6PR between 7pm and 12 midnight.

Mix 94.5 is still well out in front of the pack with a market share of 23 per cent.

However industry insiders suggest Nova’s imminent arrival might shake things up a bit.
