Elemental appoints new MD

Thursday, 17 July, 2014 - 14:10

Potash explorer Elemental Minerals has appointed John Sanders as managing director, replacing Iain Macpherson who will continue as a non-executive director.

The company said Mr Macpherson’s presence on the board would allow a smooth transition, continuity and retention of technical skills.

Mr Sanders worked as general manager and executive director at Elemental from 2009 to 2012, and was integral to the development of its Sintoukala potash project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the company said.

His experience includes 30 years in African mining and exploration projects, notably as chief executive of Niger Uranium, vice-president (exploration) at UraMin, and country manager as at Anglo American Botswana.

Details of Mr Sanders’ remuneration have not been finalised.

Elemental announced earlier this week that it had started a drilling program at its Dougou deposit, part of the Sintoukola Potash Project.

Elemental was up 8.33 per cent today to 26 cents per share at the time of writing.
