Internet service provider Eftel has announced former Dodo Australia boss Scott Stavretis as its new chief executive.

Mr Stavretis will take over from retiring Eftel chief executive John Lane, who served for 10 years.

Eftel executive chairman Simon Ehrenfeld said Mr Staretis would be of great assistance in driving the merger of Eftel and Club Telco and ensuring it delivered strong organic growth.

"We also thank retiring CEO John Lane for his 10 years of service to the company. With John's involvement and leadership we have grown many times in size, and now to the point where we are embarking on our largest ever transaction," Mr Ehrenfeld said.

Eftel announced last week an acquisition deal where majority ownership would pass to Club Telco shareholders.

The combined group will have 120,000 active internet services, annual turnover of $55 million and 300 staff across offices in Melbourne, Gold Coast, Perth, Kuala Lumpur and Manila.

Club Telco was established by the founders of Dodo.

At 12:15PM (WST) today Eftel shares were steady at 26 cents.
