Doray Minerals chief operating officer Peter Bamford has become the latest senior departure from the firm, following the recent exit of its CEO and chairman.

Mr Bamford will be succeeded by business development manager Rod Jacobs from next week, after serving in the role for five years.

The appointment follows the retirement of founding Doray managing director Allan Kelly late last year, who was replaced by Leigh Junk, and then Peter Lester, who resigned as chairman in January to focus on his other business interests.

He was replaced by former BHP Billiton executive Julius Matthys.

Mr Junk said today that Mr Jacobs’ experience in the management of mining operations and overall strategic planning would be valuable to the company as it consolidated its production profile.

“I am pleased to promote Rod to the position of chief operating officer and look forward to his leadership and management of Doray’s operational activities,” he said.

“I would also like to thank Peter for his significant contribution to Doray over the last five years in which he has overseen the construction and management of our two mining operations.

“I wish him all the best in his retirement.”

Doray shares were 4.3 per cent higher to 36 cents each at 11:30am.
