Decmil Group has won a new contract under its framework agreement with Rio Tinto, securing a $30 million construction deal at the mining giant’s Marandoo mine in the Pilbara.

Under the deal announced today, Decmil will construct a workshop as well as refuelling, wash-down and storage facilities for Marandoo’s fleet of heavy mining equipment.

Work is set to commence in September, and will take around six months to complete, Decmil managing director Scott Criddle said.

“Decmil has built a very strong relationship with Rio Rinto through our work on a number of significant projects and we are very pleased to secure this latest contract,” Mr Criddle said in a statement.

“In February we announced a mile-stone five-year framework agreement with Rio Tinto’s iron ore business, which positioned Decmil Australia in an early contractor involvement role as Rio invests to expand its iron ore interests in the Pilbara.”

At 9:50AM, WST, Decmil shares were steady at $2.64.
