Creditors are chsasing Osborne Park-based contractor Menzies Civil Australia, which is locked in its own legal dispute with the developers of a proposed $100 million country club.

It's understood Menzies is pursuing the developers of an under-construction country club in Bindoon named Club Moolia, claiming it's been at least eight months since a payment was made.

First revealed by Business News in August 2020, the exclusive club promised a Formula One race track, clubhouse, private suites, golf and tennis facilities, as well as a swimming lagoon.

Work started at the project - which was valued at $100 million at the time - in 2022, but it's understood Menzies has downed production until it receives the payment it claims to be owed.

According to documents sighted by Business News, there are four court actions against Menzies Civil seeking payment for the sale of goods and services of about $138,000.

The plaintiff companies are from Sydney and Perth.

Menzies Civil's credit report also records payment defaults of more than $17,000 to three entities, with invoices going unpaid since October 2022. Another contractor has told Business News it was awaiting payment of $25,000.

According to Menzies Civil Australia’s website, the company offers urban civil construction services as well as plant and equipment hire.

A creditor who wished to remain anonymous told Business News they had been awaiting payment of $25,000 for several weeks after being contracted by Menzies Civil for services at the Moolia work site.

The creditor claimed they received an impromptu call from Creditor Watch regarding Menzies Civil earlier this week alerting them to numerous defaults and court actions.

It's understood the creditor does not intend to pursue legal action.

Perth's overheated construction market is well publicised, with shortages of skilled labour and increased costs proving challenging for local contractors.

Club Moolia has been contacted for comment.
