HIS Majesty’s Theatre has opened its doors to the corporate world with the opening of Downstairs at the Maj and the launch of the historic theatre as a unique corporate venue.
The opening of the refurbished Greenwich offers corporate clients an intimate conference or entertainment space which can include cabaret style seating and a show.
Downstairs at the Maj also has a business centre with general office technology for conferences or meetings for up to 140 people.
While theatre manager Rodney Phillips is quick to assure the public the main focus of His Majesty’s will remain on high-quality performances, corporate functions offer an opportunity for the theatre to capitalise on the unique architecture of Australia’s only Edwardian theatre.
“While our principal focus is to provide quality entertainment for Perth audiences, we can’t ignore the fact that His Majesty’s Theatre is one of the most striking buildings and highly revered establishments in Australia,” Mr Phillips said.
The rental cost for Down stairs at the Maj is $440, and His Majesty’s Theatre can work with a corporate client to work out the front of house and crew charges and any catering costs, Ogden IFC planning manager Belinda Dunbar said.
“The costs really depend on what you want in terms of technical requirements like microphones and lectures, the catering can be quoted by one of the catering operations managers who work out of the Concert Hall,” Ms Dunbar said.
Downstairs at the Maj complements His Majesty’s existing corporate function venues including the Dress Circle Bar, the Dress Circe Foyer and Optus Exhibition area, and theatre style seating for up to 1200 people in the main auditorium.
