Construction contracts and tenders Aug 10 to 23 2017

The Department of Education has awarded McCorkell Constructions a $3.5 million contract for construction and refurbishment work relating to the upcoming relocation of the Duncraig Secondary Education Support Centre to Warwick Senior High School.

Duncraig SESC, an independent public school catering to students with disabilities, is currently housed in transportable classrooms on the site of Duncraig Senior High School, with insufficient access to the school’s facilities.

The work to be performed under the contract will include the refurbishment of permanent classrooms for the school’s students, as well as the construction of a staff and administration building.

It is understood that the work will also involve the creation of a new, dedicated entrance into the Warwick SHS grounds, including parking and bus facilities. The relocation is expected to be complete by early next year.

Universal Constructions has been awarded a $2.9 million contract for stage one of the new Aveley North Primary School. The company will perform bulk earthworks, and construct temporary pre-primary and kindergarten facilities to open next year. The Aveley North school was one of four new primary schools announced in January this year. It will be built for an expected total cost of $17.3 million. Construction of the school is aimed to be completed in time for the 2019 school year, and will provide capacity for a total of 540 students.
