THE Pilbara Development Commission is currently scoping for new talent for its board, with the impending appointment of four new members. The commission is seeking applications from Pilbara residents who have an interest in the region, as well as knowledge or experience in business and industry, employment, education and training, community development, tourism or recreation. An understanding of issues impacting on indigenous communities would also be beneficial, according to a media release. The commission’s objectives are to maximise job creation, broaden local economies, identify needs for infrastructure and ensure equitable access to government services. Nominations for the positions close on December 27, with the board positions to commence in February 2007.
