Shanghai Baosteel Group Corp

China’s largest iron and steel maker, with China the world’s leading steel producer. The state-owned company has the capacity to produce more than 20 million tonnes of crude steel a year and has operations in construction, finance, information technology, international trade, real estate and transportation.

Angang Group

China’s second largest steel maker recently announced its planned merger with the country’s fifth-largest, Bengang, which could ultimately create a steel giant with a capacity of up to 30mt/year. Angang currently produces about 12mt/year, while Bengang produces about 6mt/year.

Sinosteel Corp

China’s largest importer of iron ore, with responsibility for procuring raw materials for the country’s steel mills, then on-selling steel products to Chinese customers. Imports about 80mt/year from WA, 37 per cent of total iron ore imports for the year. Company mainly engaged in developing and processing of metallurgical mineral resources, trade, engineering and construction.

China Shougang International Trade and Engineering Corp

A multi-industry, international entity, mainly engaging in import/export, project engineering, shipping, investment in and manage of, middle to large sized mine and steel processing enterprises. It is also the sales agency for Rio Tinto’s Hamersley Iron.

Chinese National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC)

Involved primarily in the exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas offshore China. China’s biggest crude oil and natural gas producer and one of the largest offshore crude producers in Indonesia.

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp (Sinopec/SIPC)

China’s largest distributor of oil and major petrochemical products, and the country’s second largest crude oil producer. It has 60.5% of the Chinese petroleum market. Total import and export volumes exceed $35 billion.

Jinchuan Group Ltd (Sino Nickel Pty Ltd)

Major integrated non-ferrous metallurgical and chemical engineering and mining company. The largest nickel and cobalt producer in China, producing more than 90 per cent of the country’s nickel and platinum group metals.

China Southern West Australian Flying College Pty Ltd

Owned by China’s largest airline, China Southern Airlines, which operates more than 230 aircraft on more than 540 domestic and international routes. Has about 70 new aircraft on order from Boeing and Airbus.

COSCO Group

A $23 billion international giant, specialising in shipping, logistics, shipbuilding and repairs, terminal operations, trade and financing. It operates about 600 vessels internationally carrying over 300 million tonnes a year.
