The Australian arm of UK group Cape has been awarded a $61 million contract by Woodside Petroleum to supply scaffolding services during construction of the Pluto liquefied natural gas project.

In an update to the London stock exchange, the group said Cape Australia Holdings, through subsidiary PCH Pty Ltd, will provide some 150 workers who will be located at the construction site.

Cape said the contract will start immediately and is scheduled for completion during September 2010.

"We have been working with Woodside, one of the most important LNG clients in the world today, for the past ten years," Cape Australia chief executive Steve Murdoch said.

"We are delighted that Woodside has recognised the quality of our offering in Australia with this contract to provide essential support to the construction of their largest project."
