CPD delivers health centre ahead of time

Construction and building services firm CPD Group has finished building a $4 million dual-purpose health centre in Carnarvon, seven weeks ahead of schedule.

The facility will become the Carnarvon base for the Midwest Community Alcohol and Drug Service during daylight hours, while it will be a 10-bed sobering up service for intoxicated people overnight.

The building, which was constructed on behalf of the Department of Housing, comprises 700 square metres and a 960sqm car park.

CPD Group said the project was the largest project it had delivered for the Department of Housing.

“The project was completed within budget, and almost two months ahead of schedule – a result achieved thanks to CPD’s proactive approach, which means keeping the client appraised of timelines and recognising and tacking any on-site issues before they affect progress,” CPD Group chief executive Tony Connors said.

“This keeps remedial costs low, and helps to keep a project within budget.

“However, our approach is based on breaking down the barriers that cause waste, and engaging early with our clients and architects to ensure a great product and maximum value as opposed to lowest cost.”

The centre, funded under the state government’s Royalties for Regions scheme, is expected to open in September.
