Bryce celebrates life online

INFORMATION technology proponent, BusinessNews columnist, and former WA deputy premier Mal Bryce has been lured into another venture.

After leaving his post with Dow Digital, Mr Bryce and business partner Phil Deschamp have developed a new Internet service called Celebrat-ing Lives found at celebratinglives.com.

The site is dedicated to assisting people to celebrate the lives of people and special occasions they cherish by creating online albums of memories that look like a traditional album.

According to Mr Bryce, having such an album creates a permanent record of events and provides a quiet place to refresh memories and share them with friends and family.

The idea came to Mr Bryce after he was asked to give a keynote address to funeral directors of Australia.

He was asked to give examples of how the Internet would impact on the funeral industry.

Albums can be made either private with personal passwords or public.

People are able to leave messages in a guest book as well as virtual flowers.

“There’s a special form of integration that wasn’t possible before,” Mr Bryce said.

“While we are building the majority of the albums at the moment, people will be able to add their own information to the site for a small fee, such as a link to a person’s favourite music, a picture gallery or an extended life story.

Mr Bryce said the site allowed people from around the world to celebrate an event, be it a birth, anniversary, wedding or the memory of a loved one.
