Bonza cancels multiple flights

Tuesday, 30 April, 2024 - 08:59

Bonza, Australia's newest low-cost airline, has cancelled flights this morning across the east coast of Australia.

The overall situation is unclear, but according to FlightRadar24 flights involving three of its four Boeing 737s have been cancelled.

Those services are: Rockhampton to Melbourne; Gold Coast to Gladstone; and Melbourne to Gladstone.

A fourth service, between Newcastle and the Sunshine Coast, is still listed as operating but has not departed.

Calls to Bonza have not been returned, however, CEO Tim Jordan has apparently told the ABC that flights have been suspended pending a review of its operations.

Bonza does not operate into Western Australia but had planned to do so.

"Bonza has temporarily suspended services due to be operated today [Tuesday April 30], as discussions are currently under way regarding the ongoing viability of the business,” Mr Jordan said.

"We apologise to our customers who are impacted by this and we’re working as quickly as possible to determine a way forward that ensures there is ongoing competition in the Australian domestic aviation market."

The airline is funded by 777 Partners in Miami.
