Board Moves December 27, 2023

Astral Resources has appointed Mark Connelly as an independent non-executive director. Mr Connelly has extensive board and mining industry experience, including overseeing several company transitions from advanced explorer to developer and producer, and successful corporate transactions. He will take over from current chair Leigh Warnick, who intends to step down from the board following a brief transition period with Mr Connelly.

Rio Tinto has appointed Germany-based Martina Merz and London-based Sharon Thorne as non-executive directors, from February and July 2024 respectively. Ms Merz has extensive leadership nad operational experience in handling cyclical businesses, navigating the energy transition and decarbonisation initiatives, and leading innovation & R&D efforts. Ms Thorne is a Chartered Accountant and has had a 36-year career with Deloitte, including as deputy CEO of Deloitte North West Europe in 2017 and global chair since 2019 before retiring at the end of November 2023.
