Michelle and Steve Jones have bought Subiaco’s Social on Station restaurant,  formerly managed by Linda Ross (formerly Mead) and her husband, Adam. Mr and Mrs Jones are in the process of re-branding the eatery as Social Subiaco.

Foodies can drop in to experience some of the fresh changes, including a soon-to-be-launched spring menu. There is also a new lunch menu and special tapas evenings on Tuesdays. The restaurant is open for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday and dinner Tuesday to Sunday.

As for Mr and Mrs Ross, it seems they’ve gotten out of the restaurant game. They own a company called Dream Host Pty Ltd, which operates limousine and transport company Dream Host Executive Transport.

Jack Mann’s granddaughter, Nicole Todd, will be able to put a her viticulture studies to good use as one of seven people to recently buy Perth Hills winery, Darlington Estate.

Mrs Todd and her husband, Matt, bought the business with James and Susanne Webster, Michelle and Andy Osborne and Peter Lynch. They are live in the area and were keen to get into the wine game.

It’s a big change for the winery, which had been owned and operated by Balt and Francesca Van der Meer for more than 20 years. But the partners are keen to continue the consistency of quality food and wine and have made little changes to the staff. Mr and Mrs Van der Meer’s son, Mark, remains the restaurant manager.

Oyster shucker Jerry Fraser is back moving his shucking show around town following a full-time stint at Fritz Hansal’s Harlequin restaurant. Mr Fraser is not leaving the Subiaco eatery completely – he shucks there every Wednesday and Friday night – but he was keen to get on the move again and will return to his former Tuesday night shucking sessions at Must Winebar.

He will also head upstairs to Must Winebar’s soon-to-open Champagne Lounge on Sunday and Monday nights. Mr Fraser says he will potentially take on another stint on Thursday nights but he was keen to spend Saturday at home relaxing with the family ahead of a busy early Sunday morning filled with his kids’various sporting activities.
