BGC Construction, Caversham Prop-erty Pty Ltd and the RAAF Association (WA) recently celebrated the end of a successful working alliance with the opening of the Cambrai Village veterans’ retirement complex at Merriwa.

BGC Construction general manger Gerry Forde said Cambrai Village would be one of WA’s most progressive independent accommodation and aged care facilities when completed in late 2001.

“The combined expertise of the development partners has contributed to a smooth development process, ensuring all construction deadlines have been met,” Mr Forde said.

Cambrai Village will comprise 271 home units and community facilities including a licensed social club and restaurant, workshop and craft studio, doctors’ rooms, library, tennis courts, croquet and bowling greens and an indoor swimming pool.

Mr Forde said demand from veterans living in the area had been overwhelming with more than 230 units sold off the plan.

“A total of twenty-nine Cambrai units are currently occupied and this will increase as the units are completed,” he said.

“Cambrai has proved popular as it is a quality development, close to the beach and all amenities and other veterans’ facilities in the area.”
