Austral Fisheries has been named the SeaWeb 2012 Seafood Champion at the International Seafood Summit in Hong Kong.
The award judges said Austral won the honour thanks to its commitment to environmental excellence in fisheries resource management.
Austral chief executive David Carter said he was delighted the company had been recognised for the years of hard work put into the health of fisheries.
“With Australia’s rights based fisheries management approach, and solid support from the government for fisheries resource management based on science, we strongly believe that by looking after our fisheries, good things will follow.
The award follows Austral’s 2011 WA Fishing Industry Council Environment Award and a National Seafood Industry Environment Award it won in 2007.
