Austal wins $15m US contract

Henderson-based shipbuilder Austal has received a $US12.3 million ($A15.1 million) contract to provide post-delivery services work to the US Navy, in relation to its provision of littoral combat ships.

Austal will provide supplies, services, labour and material support to the US Navy for the LCS ship USS Omaha, being the 12th defence vessel it is building for the US.

“The littoral combat ship is a 127-metre, frigate-sized vessel that is constructed in Austal’s US shipyard in Mobile, Alabama,” Austal said in a brief statement.

Austal’s Mobile shipyard continues to operate with progressively improving production and cost efficiencies from its world-class production facilities.”

Shares in Austal were 0.7 per cent higher to $1.68 each at the close of trade.
