Art alive in Activated walk

As the latest step in its goal to create community connection in Perth, not-for-profit group Activate Perth has launched an Activated ArtWalk to celebrate the opening of the Matagarup Bridge at Optus stadium.

The walk is a partnership between Activate Perth, the Department of Transport, City of Perth and the WACA.

Walkers will be able to view art along the route, and with the assistance of a phone and downloadable map, the animation and augmented reality attached to each artwork will become visible through the EyeJack app.

The walk begins at the Forrest Place iCentre, before tracing down Hay Street to the Matagarup Bridge in East Perth.

The EyeJack app was co-created by digital media and mixed-reality artist Sutu (Stu Campbell), in Roebourne.

Sutu’s team collaborated with local and international artists to provide an alternate view of existing artwork, as well as works drawn from the EyeJack catalogue.

Local artists Peter Farmer, James Giddy and Alexander Hare, in addition to Sutu, are among those whose work appears on the walk and via the app.
