Goldminer Red 5 has announced David Coyne as chief financial officer and joint company secretary, the latter role being shared with Lisa Wynne. Mr Coyne has more than 30 years of experience in mining, engineering and construction across Australia and internationally. Before this appointment, Mr Coyne was finance director and company secretary at Gascoyne Resources for three years. He has previously worked as VDM Group chief financial officer and company secretary, Consolidated Minerals chief financial officer and Macmahon Holdings general manager corporate finance and risk, according to LinkedIn.

Rio Tinto has appointed France-based Jérôme Pécresse to lead its aluminium business from October 23. Mr Pécresse has more than 30 years’ experience in mining and energy and, until recently, he had worked at General Electric (GE) Renewable Energy for 12 years serving in several roles holding the dual-position as president and chief executive for the longest period. Before this, Mr Pécresse was executive vice president for French manufacturer Alstom for four years, a role he brought 13 years in mining and metals processing experience to.

Interim chief financial officer for chemical engineering business Hazer Group, Neil Brodie, has been confirmed to take on this position permanently. Mr Brodie has served as interim CFO since December 2022 and has more than 25 years of experience in finance, strategic planning and commercial planning. Prior to joining Hazer Group, Mr Brodie was CFO at National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environment Management Agency for eight months on a contract basis. He has previously worked as Infinite Blue Energy deputy CFO and financial controller and The Munda Biddi Trail Foundation treasurer and later, chairperson.

Healthcare tech company Resonance Health has confirmed Benjamin Carruthers will be its new chief financial officer from October. Mr Carruthers is a chartered accountant with more than 20 years of experience working on advisory and restructuring for companies across a diverse range of industries such as mining, retail, manufacturing, aquaculture, education and training. Prior to this appointment, Mr Carruthers was general manager of SFM Marine and an executive director of Korda Mentha's restructuring team.

Sydney-based IT service management company Atturra Limited has promoted Ash Colmer to general manager for its Perth office. Mr Colmer has worked for Atturra for seven years as associate principal consultant based in Canberra and will move to Perth for his new role. He is expected to expand the company’s advisory and consulting services in Western Australia, accelerating the services capability with state and local government departments and agencies, as well as within industries such as mining, utilities and infrastructure. Before commencing with Atturra, Mr Colmer was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Australian Army for 30 years.

Fiona Payne has been appointed to Good Sammy Enterprises board as a non-executive director and is set to elevate to chair in December this year following Trent Barlett’s scheduled departure. Mr Bartlett has been on the board since 2011 and became chair in 2016, contributing to the growth and achievements of Good Sammy over the past 12 years. Ms Payne joins the board effective immediately and brings several decades of experience in governance and operational leadership roles within the disability and health sectors to the not-for-profit organisation. Ms Payne also currently serves as Therapy Focus chair and Stan Perron Charitable Foundation director.

Four new magistrates have been appointed to the Magistrates Court of Western Australia, all scheduled to commence on September 11. Stephen Butcher was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in 2006 and has specialised in criminal law for most of his legal career. Rosemarie Myers was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in 2008 after a stint with Legal Aid WA. Clare Cullen was admitted to practice in 2008 and 18 months later, she joined the WA's Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) as a state prosecutor. Paul Lyons was admitted to practice in 2010 and also served a tenure as a ODPP state prosecutor before joining the WA Police Force as senior solicitor.
