Elizabeth Gaines will join the West Coast Eagles board as its first woman to be appointed as the deputy chair. Ms Gaines stepped down from her role as Fortescue Metals Group director in August but remained as a non-executive director. She will replace Paul Fitzpatrick, who has been the deputy chair since 2020. Mr Fitzpatrick will be the board’s 11th chair and has been a West Coast director for the past six years.

Jenn Morris has been appointed as the non-executive director at Argonaut. She was previously the non-executive director at Fortescue Future Industries. Ms Morris also joined the board member of Fortescue Metals Group in late 2016.

Virginia Miltrup will be starting as chief executive at City of Karratha from October 31. She held senior executive roles with the CBH Group, Synergy and Thomson Reuters and was recently the executive director of community & business services at the City of Vincent.

Satterley Property Group has hired Drew Tomkins to be its project director. Mr Tomkins was previously the development manager at Qube Property Group. He had worked at Satterley Property Group before, being the senior development manager from July 2021 to January.

Giacinta Parish has been appointed as the Defence and Security Institute Director at University of Western Australia. Professor Parish served as deputy chair of the Institute and as an executive committee and advisory board member. She was one of the original members of the UWA Defence Steering Committee, which led to the formation of the UWA Defence and Security Institute.

The WA Premier’s former director of strategy Mark Reed has joined lobbying company Anacta as its director. The eastern states lobbying company has plans to set up a Perth office. Mr Reed spent more than a decade as a Labor party and government operative before quitting in August.

Decmil Group has made Greg Jason its chief financial officer. Mr Jason was previously the chief financial officer at Austal, a role he held for nine out of the 15 years he was at the company. Prior to Austal, Mr Jason was the finance manager at Iluka Resources.

Buru Energy has recruited Paul Bird as its chief financial officer, effective from October 10. Mr Bird’s most recent role was as chief financial officer and company secretary at Metgasco. He was chief financial officer at Northern Oil & Gas Australia from November 2016 until early 2020.

Luca Pietropiccolo will be chief financial officer at Australian Finance Group on October 31. Mr Pietropiccolo is currently the Finance, Merchant Energy general manager at Alinta Energy. He has more than 17 years of experience in accounting, M&A, strategy and capital management. Mr Pietropiccolo held senior finance roles at Wesfarmers Limited.
