Our weekly appointments wrap includes Graeme Gammie, Ward Dedman, Tony D’Alessandro, Ian Martinus, Karen Brown, Paul Boyatzis, Derek Barlow, Jacob Wallman, Paul Ryan, Adam Parr, Peter van Onselen, Jeff Seaby, Kevin Fuchsbichler and Trevor Badger.

Landgate has announced Graeme Gammie will be its new chief executive. Mr Gammie will serve a five-year term. He has experience in senior roles across the Western Australian public service including most recently serving as the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage acting assistant director general. Bruce Roberts has been acting chief executive since August 2018.

Ward Dedman will be insurance broker EBM’s first chief executive after founding executive chairman Alan Bishop takes a step back from day-to-day operations. Mr Dedman will also be an executive director. He joined EBM 19 years ago and has worked as a general manager and managing director of group operations. Mr Bishop will remain as executive chairman.

Tony D’Alessandro will take the reins as chief executive at Statewide Super. He will replace Richard Nunn who resigned after three years to join MetLife Australia. Mr D’Alessandro has extensive experience in private banking, wealth management and administration after holding executive roles for Commonwealth Bank, St George Bank and Bank of South Australia.

Ian Martinus has been appointed to lead the new WA AustCyber Node at the Joondalup Innovation Hub at Edith Cowan University’s Joondalup Campus. Dr Martinus has experience in the private and public sector experience in land development, economic development and corporate strategic ventures in the United States, Asia and the Middle East. The Node’s aims include job growth in the cyber security industry and bringing together universities, government and the private sector.

Cannings Purple has appointed Karen Brown as acting head of its government relations practice. Current director of government relations Astrid Serventy is leaving for a new role in the corporate sector. Ms Brown will continue her existing role as national director as she leads the government relations team. She has experience as a senior policy and media advisor at state and federal levels and was a chief of staff to a federal minister.

Australian Medical Association WA executive director Paul Boyatzis has announced his intention to retire later this year. AMA WA president Omar Khorshid said Mr Boyatzis held the position for more than 30 years and transformed the association into one of the largest and most influential membership-based organisations in Australia.

Commercial real estate firm CBRE has announced two appointments to its sales divisionDerek Barlow has returned to CRBE as associate director after working for the company a decade ago. He spent the last ten years specialising in acquisitions, development management and capital raising for private and ASX-listed companies. Jacob Wallman joins the team as a negotiator after completing the company’s 2018 graduate program. 

Corporate and financial communications advisory Citadel-Magnus has welcomed Paul Ryan as director in the Perth office. Mr Ryan has experience in the oil and gas and agriculture sectors after working at Shell and AWB. He started his career as a journalist with The Kimberley Echo, GWN News and The Countryman.

Adam Parr has joined the School of Business at the University of Western Australia on a fractional basis. Dr Parr is a consultant to BHP helping them design and implement group strategy and an investor, adviser and director of several start-ups. Peter van Onselen has also moved to the school from the School of Social Sciences. He works as a political editor for Network Ten and is a contributing editor for The Australian.

CBH Group has held elections to select three member directors. Jeff Seaby from Mukinbudin was elected as a member director in district 2. In district 3, current director Kevin Fuchsbichler from Bruce Rock was re-elected as a member director. Pingrup’s Trevor Badger was also re-elected as a member director in district 4.
