Catalyst Metals will officially welcome experienced gold industry executive Donna Thornton as chief financial officer on February 27. Prior to this role, Ms Thornton worked as group financial controller at Alkane Resources and has more than 20 years of experience in resources and contractor mining sectors. This appointment follows Catalyst Metals’ takeover offer for WA gold explorer Vango Mining

Greatland Gold has welcomed two senior leaders to its team, appointing Jeremy Meynert as chief development officer and Simon Tyrrell as chief operating officer. Mr Meynert has worked in the mining sector in investment banking and senior executive roles at Fortescue Metals and Resolute Mining. Mr Tyrrell has worked in operational, engineering and project development and moved to Greatland Gold from his recent position at Northern Star.

Ardea Resources has appointed Matthew Read as project director for the company’s Kalgoorlie Nickel Project Googarrie Hub. Mr Read will be leading the study and development phases of the project when he commences the role on February 27. Prior to this appointment, Mr Read was general manager at Neometals’ lithium projects in Portugal and also worked as contracts manager at the Roy Hill Iron Ore project.

Bannerman Energy has appointed Gavin Chamberlain to the role of chief operating officer. Mr Chamberlain has vast experience in the minerals sector as a leader and project manager with over 30 years working in the global mining industry. Prior to this position, he worked as chief operating officer at UK-based Kore Potash Limited and was responsible for advancing projects in Sintoukola in Republic of Congo.

Global consulting and engineering firm Hatch RobertsDay has recruited four experienced economists for its Urban Solutions team. Jason McFarlane, Giles Tuffin, Nikki Harvey and Chris Massey will be working on projects covering town planning, urban design, regional development, infrastructure, Indigenous development, mining and energy. According to Hatch, this new economic development team will collaborate with the company’s global network of economic consultants.

Nick de Vries has been promoted to WA state manager at consulting firm Bridge42. Mr de Vries has worked at the company since 2010, most recently as associate director. In his new role, he would be responsible for WA operations and overseeing Bridge42 property advisory, development and project management consultants in Perth. Bridge42 has also promoted Daniel Miller to the role of director. Mr Miller has worked at Bridge42 since 2005 and is based in Melbourne.

ASX-listed Good Drinks Australia has promoted Aaron Heary to the role of executive director overseeing strategy, brand and hospitality. Mr Heary has worked with Good Drinks since 2004 and in 2014 was appointed to dual role of chief operating officer and chief strategy officer. Phil McClintock has taken over as chief operating officer, promoted from his prior role at Good Drinks as head of commercial.

Janet Holmes à Court is set to be the patron of the 2023 Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival. Mrs Holmes à Court owns art galleries in West Perth and at Vasse Felix Winery in Margaret River. She is also the Art Gallery of WA chair and Australian National Academy of Music board member. Mrs Holmes à Court will be taking over from Kim Beazley who was the annual literary festival patron since 2020.
