Genesis Minerals has selected Matt Nixon as the new general manager for its Leonora gold operation. Mr Nixon has more than 14 years of expertise in a range of senior management roles in the industry, the majority of which were focused on managing underground gold mines in WA. Mr Nixon was formerly the chief executive officer at Labyrinth Resources until June this year. Prior to this, he worked several managerial roles at Northern Star Resources for four years. With Genesis Minerals, Mr Nixon will be a key contributor to the December half 2023 Gwalia strategic review. Mr Nixon has commenced a transitional period until end of September with outgoing general manager Andrew Lindsay.

Claire Vinnicombe has been recruited as general manager at Perth-based Integro Private Wealth. Ms Vinnicombe has more than 25 years’ experience across a variety of areas including human resources, professional services and management consultancy. Prior to this appointment, Ms Vinnicombe spent nearly ten years working at law firm Bennett as the people and culture manager. Before this, she gained experience as a human resources manager based in Sydney at Coca-Cola Amatil and later, Sony Music Entertainment. Ms Vinnicombe’s appointment has marked a milestone for Integro Private Wealth as the firm embarks on its expansion plans to establish a presence in Albany.

ASX-listed Lunnon Metals has announced the new general manager of the Kambalda Nickel Project as Greg Harvey. Mr Harvey has more than four decades of experience in the Australian mining and resources sector. He has worked in a variety of senior positions managing nickel and gold operations and managing operational planning. Mr Harvey has been living in Kambalda for several years, working as the registered manager and then the principal mining engineer at Beta Hunt Mine owned by Canada-based Karora Resources. This mine site is directly across from Lunnon Metals’ Kambalda Nickel Project which Mr Harvey will oversee moving forward.

Not-for-profit Short Back and Sidewalks has appointed the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA chief economist Tim Marney as its new chair. The Perth-based organisation provides free haircuts and grooming services to people experiencing homelessness. Mr Marney brings more than 30 years of experience across a range of sectors including economics, finance, public policy and administration, health and human services to the organisation. He worked as WA’s Under Treasurer for nearly ten years until 2014 when he became the Mental Health Commissioner for WA, a role he held until 2019. Mr Marney has served on a variety of boards including Reconciliation WA, Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre Advisory Board, Beyond Blue and Richmond Wellbeing.

Logistics company ASCO Australia has announced Warren McHardie as managing director leading the established teams in Perth, Dongara and Darwin. Mr McHardie will be based at ASCO’s Perth office and is set to oversee the company’s delivery of safety excellence, service excellence and sustainability. Mr McHardie possesses more than two decades of experience in management roles across industries such as marine, oil and gas, and logistics and automotive. Prior to this appointment, he was general manager of commercial and business development at Bhagwan Marine, and before this he worked at Toll Group for more than 11 years spending the majority of this tenure as business development manager.

Stephen Perkins has been promoted to the role of senior vice president Australia at Perth-based AngloGold Ashanti, taking over from Michael Erikson who has retired from the role after 21 years. Mr Perkins has worked at AngloGold Ashanti for five years, first as mining manager and most recently as general manager of the Tropicana Gold Mine. Before this, Mr Perkins served at Newcrest Mining for nearly ten years.

Rachel Emer has been recruited by Good Sammy Enterprises as chief of people and culture. Ms Emer has vast experience of managing people and culture across a breadth of industries and sectors. Prior to this announcement, Ms Emer worked at health care organisation Palmerston Association for close to four years as executive manager of people and culture. She has previously delivered her services on a contract capacity at organisations such as Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations and Lite n’ Easy.
