CBH appoints head of trading

CBH Grain has appointed Don Campbell as head of trading. Mr Campbell joins CBH from Gavilon in Brisbane where he was senior commodity trader. He has more than 20 years’ experience in trading, risk management and leadership roles in the agriculture sector.

WA science awards

University of WA professor Michael Tobar has been named ‘scientist of the year’ at the Western Australian Science Awards. Professor Tobar co-invented a system that has been licensed to a major aviation company for its advanced radar and telecommunications systems. Fellow UWA professor Eric May, Chevron chair in gas process engineering, won the ‘early scientist of the year’ award. Fiona Stanley (pictured) was inducted into the Science Hall of Fame. Professor Stanley is the founding director of the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research.

Jenkinson to chair advisory committee

Samantha Jenkinson has been appointed chairperson of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Disability. Previously the deputy chair, Ms Jenkinson has worked in employment services, policy and advocacy for people with disability.

Johnson chair of VCAWA

Barbara Johnson has been appointed chairperson of The Visitor Centre Association of Western Australia. Mrs Johnson was first elected to the board in 2009 and has been manager at the Bridgetown Visitor Centre for three and half years.

Donnelly resigns as CEO of PMA

Mike Donnelly has resigned as chief executive officer of the Perth Market Authority, effective immediately.

Fellowes Patersons state manager

Patersons Securities has appointed Lewis Fellowes as WA state manager (private clients). Mr Fellowes has been the branch manager of Patersons’ Gladstone office since the merger with Tolhurst Group in early 2009. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the broking industry, having been at Tolhurst since 2007 and prior to that ABN AMRO Morgans for 12 years.

Hain a Middletons partner

Middletons has appointed Michael Hain to its property group as a partner. Mr Hain, who brings more than 18 years’ experience to his new role, joins Middletons from Corrs.

Hall CEO for MercyCare

Health and community services organisation MercyCare has appointed Chris Hall group chief executive officer. Mr Hall is also the current president of the Western Australian Council of Social Service, a member of the Australian Council of Social Service board of governors and an inaugural member of the Partnership Forum. He was also previously chief executive officer of UnitingCare West.

Crossing, Kite join Hartleys

Ben Crossing (far right), formerly a director of UBS, and Steve Kite, formerly a senior associate at boutique investment bank BurnVoir, have joined Hartleys corporate finance team.
