Ridge heads resources safety

Simon Ridge has been appointed as executive director for resources safety at the WA Department of Mines and Petroleum, following the retirement of 10-year veteran Malcolm Russell. Mr Ridge has been promoted from his current role as director of mines safety, and will continue on as state mining engineer while he heads up the resources safety division.

New Pritchard Francis directors

Engin-eering cons-ultancy Pritchard Francis has promoted Mark Rea and Chris Tyler to the position of director. Both were previously associate directors at the firm. Mr Rea is currently responsible for the design of major building works associated with the Gorgon and Wheatstone projects. Mr Tyler was lead structural designer for the Rockingham Kwinana District Hospital redevelopment, and received the 2011 WA Young Professional Engineer of the Year award from Engineers Australia.

Alvarez joins Titan

Engineering consultancy Titan ICT Consultants has appointed Rodrigo Alvarez as senior consultant railway systems. Mr Alvarez has moved to Perth from London, where he was a senior design engineer at Network Rail. 

Promotions at Purple

WA corporate communi-cation and investor relations firm Cannings Purple has promoted Greg Galton and Karen Oswald to the position of associate director. Mr Galton was previously senior counsel investor relations, and Ms Oswald was account director investor relations at the firm.

Youds joins Kaboko

Zambian focused manganese explorer Kaboko Mining has appointed Simon Youds as technical consultant. Mr Youds was previously chief executive officer of African Iron, which was recently taken over by Exxaro Resources. Prior to that, Mr Youds was managing director, Australia of Consolidated Minerals.

George leads BrazIron

Brazilian ferrous metals explorer BrazIron has appointed Brad George as chief executive officer. Mr George was previously the exploration manager for Sundance Resources.

Grosvenor heads MSP

MSP Engineering has appointed Brett Grosvenor as chief executive officer. Mr Grosvenor has been with the company for 18 months in senior project manager roles, and prior to that has worked with Laing O’Rourke, Babcock Brown Power and SKM.
