Rockingham brewery and restaurant Sound Brewing Co has appointed administrators from WA Insolvency Solutions, the second Perth brewer to do so in two weeks.

Sound Brewing Co, registered as Bragu Pty Ltd, appointed joint administrators Greg Prout and Jimmy Trpcevski from WAIS on Wednesday.

Mr Prout told Business News it was the intention of the administrators to continue to trade the Rockingham business "with a view to a sale".

"Subsequent to a review of the company’s financial position by the company’s director, the director appointed Jimmy Trpcevski and I as voluntary administrators yesterday," Mr Prout said.

"The causes/reasons for the company’s financial difficulties are still being investigated.

"An urgent assessment of the company’s financial position and trading is being undertaken, however it is the current intention of the administrators to continue to trade the company’s business with a view to a sale."

Located at the Rockingham Centre shopping complex, the brewhouse and restaurant was established in 2022.

The venue has 24 beers on tap, and is planning to launch its own line of beer brewed at Cockburn Sound.

Sound Brewing Co's administration comes after administrators were called in to take over Fremantle brewer Running With Thieves just two weeks prior on August 24.

The Marine Terrace-located brewery, distillery and restaurant, registered as Atari Enterprises Trading Company, appointed administrators Richard Albarran, Cameron Shaw, and Aaron Dominish from Hall Chadwick.

The administrators claim it's “business as usual” with all employees continuing work as they assess a potential restructure of the brewer and distiller.

“The administrators are advised of stakeholders’ intention to propose a deed of company arrangement and further details are expected to be provided to creditors by 19 September 2023," according to a statement from Hall Chadwick.

The company's co-founder Scott Douglas told a brewery-focused publication the decision to appoint administrators came off the back of difficult trading conditions and debts owed to several creditors.
