Local IT firm ASG Group has won a $9 million contract to provide managed services to the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET), under an initial two-year term.

ASG will provide managed services for a number of technologies for the department’s information technology division, hosted from DET data centres.

“Through ASG’s in-depth understanding of the department’s information technology requirement and our proven expertise in the education sector, we are able to implement a cohesive and accountable service delivery model that ensures operational ownership,” chief executive Geoff Lewis said.

“This will result in the effective and efficient delivery of the core infrastructure managed services for DET.

“State government departments are looking for cost-effective, scalable and flexible IT systems that can help them deliver their objectives.”

The contract comes with three further one-year extension options.

ASG is continuing its partnership with DET, having previously worked with the department from 2007 for the maintenance and hosting of payroll and recruitment systems.

Shares in ASG were 4 per cent higher to 89 cents at 10:45am.
