THE modest old folks’ home of the past has today been replaced by expansive resort-style facilities as retirees live longer and demand more from their post-work lifestyle.

The changes are captured in a $50 million St Ives Centro retirement village to be built in Tighe and Bishop Streets as part of Subi Centro.

The complex will feature a clubhouse, indoor pool, spa and gymnasium, a two lane bowling green, mini golf and an art and craft room.

St Ives Group director, Ray Fitzgerald said: “I really believe St Ives Centro has it all – it is in one of the most prestigious locations in Perth and we have designed apartments which not only complement the location but surpass many of the luxury units on the market today.”

Building of the first stage of the development will commence in October.

The St Ives Group is associated with retirement villages in Hillarys, Melville, City Beach, Belmont and Murdoch – a village currently under development in an association with Murdoch University.
