Workers urged to walk the walk

‘LEAVE the car at home’, ‘unblock some arteries’ and ‘relieve congestion’ are some of the messages The Note has noticed promoters using to get Western Australian workers to take part in Walk to Work Day next Friday. The annual event aims to promote regular walking as a healthy activity, reduce the reliance on cars and improve the use of public transport and air quality. Participants are asked to walk part of the way and use public transport for the remainder of the trip – or walk the full distance. The Pedestrian Council, which organises the event, is urging employers and managers to set an example by participating and encouraging their staff to join them.
