The construction of an exclusive $100 million country club in Bindoon spearheaded by Singaporean developer Ascapia Capital has officially begun, with the site expected to open to members as early as next year.

Club Moolia, which is being built on a 3,000 acre site on Mooliabeenee Road in Bindoon, will feature a 4.1-kilometre Formula One-inspired race track, a swimming lagoon, five tennis courts, a club house and a garage.

In addition, the international country club’s members will also have access to luxury lounges and chauffeur transfers to and from Perth Airport.

The development, expected to be the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, is expected to be built across several stages.

The club claims more than half of its ultra-exclusive 200 memberships have already been snapped by F1 enthusiasts, the annual cost of which fetches between $5,000 and $100,000.

Club spokesperson Nikki Milne said Perth’s reputation globally as a predominantly ‘virus-free’ city had made it an extremely attractive location for its members.

“Club Moolia provides a unique tourism opportunity at a global level,” she said.

“Not only will it benefit the WA economy, but it will put Perth on the map as the home of one of the world’s most prestigious country clubs.”

Club Moolia is backed by Ascapia Capital, which secured development approval back in 2020 after gaining the support of the Shire of Chittering.

Business News understands the proposal has been in the works for more than four years.

Initially, Club Moolia co-founder Ronald Shaw told Business News he hoped construction would begin in 2021, targeting 2022 for expected completion, but that did not eventuate.

The club is understood to have attracted the endorsement of Formula One founder and billionaire Bernie Ecclestone.
