WOODSIDE West Africa, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Woodside Petroleum, has successfully bid for an offshore exploration block in Liberia.
The area adjoins blocks owned by Repsol Exploracion SA.
Repsol and Woodside hold a 50 per cent interest in two blocks immediately west of Liberia in neighbouring Sierra Leone and the two companies now have interests in five adjoining blocks across Sierra Leone and Liberia.
Woodside’s other West African play, Chingeutti, is expected to be in production by early 2006.
