Global engineering firm Wood has inked a partnership deal with Western Australian Aboriginal-led construction company Marawar, the most significant agreement of its kind for the two companies.

Wood Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with West Leederville-based Marawar to collaborate on future opportunities.

Since its inception in 2018, Marawar has delivered integrated building and maintenance services across WA and secured a number of government contracts.

Marawar has been named National Registered Supplier of the Year at Supply Nation’s Diversity Awards for the past two consecutive years.

Wood’s Asia Pacific operations president Ralph Ellis said the company was pleased to be working with a company focused on supporting Aboriginal people.

Marawar aligns well with Wood’s core values – care, commitment and courage – and we’re excited to see what the partnership will bring for both companies,” he said.

“In Australia, Wood has an extensive track record of delivering engineering, procurement, maintenance and construction services for its clients across the resources and conventional and new energy sectors.

“Our association with Marawar provides the opportunity to further strengthen our capability and ensure exceptional value for our clients.”

Marawar’s co-founder and director Gerry Matera said the partnership strongly aligned with the values and vision of the company, with the potential to create more opportunities for Aboriginal people and businesses while preserving country.

“Participating in maintenance contracts in the resource sector is a key component of that story,” he said.

“We have the knowledge, capability and the people who can deliver value across a myriad of maintenance contracts.”
