Women face big change

THE recent Women in Timber Conference has faced the prospect of major change.

Forest Protection Society state coordinator Trish Townsend said the prospect of change had been brought into focus for many people involved in the timber industry with the recent WA Government backflip on the Regional Forest Agreement.

“The RFA was always going to bring change to timber

communities in the south-west through a carefully managed transition to increased value-adding and manufacturing in the native forest-timber based industry and a growing integration with the plantation based industry,” Ms Townsend said.
