The Australian and New Zealand Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine has installed the 2004 Hay Shed Hill Sauvignon Blanc Semillon as the best wine for the variety in its autumn edition with a score of 95/100.

Winemaker Nigel Kinsman described the result as a significant endorsement for the possibilities of small producers dedicated to regional and varietal definition expressed through premium quality produce.

The inaugural Capes Beer Festival to be held on March 12 and 13 in Dunsborough will work to raise the profile of premium local beer in the wider community. Southern breweries such as Bootleg, Wicked Ale and Bug Ocean will combine with the budding Colonial and Cowaramup Brewing Company among others to fly the boutique beer flag.

On March 6 Castle Rock Estate Winery will host 10 local producers as they present a selection of their wines for tasting, showcasing one of the most dynamic wine sub-regions of the South West.
