White Cliff Nickel chairman passes away

The chairman of White Cliff Nickel Ltd, Peter Hampshire, has passed away.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends on this sad occasion," White Cliff said in a statement.

Peter's career as a stockbroker and investment banker spanned 35 years. He was an icon in the financial services industry and was respected by all who knew him in the business sector. He started his career with Slater Walker Merchant Bank in London followed by several years with Merrill Lynch International and Jacksons stockbrokers based in Sydney.

After an extensive period as a director and consultant to both private and public investment and resource companies Peter returned to stockbroking joining Southern Cross Equities and later Bell Potter Securities.

Peter had a strong bond and close affiliation with the mining and exploration industry and over the years developed several close friendships that will continue to be permanently etched with these persons. Peter was a gregarious and big-hearted man, whose presence will be greatly missed in the business and social world, and particularly that of Sydney.

Peter was instrumental in the formation and listing of White Cliff Nickel and provided exceptional leadership and corporate experience during the company's development. In short, Peter made a significant contribution to the company over the past 18 months and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
