The state government is seeking a head construction contractor for the $26.1 million State Netball Centre.

Sports and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron said the four-court centre would provide training and competition venues for the state netball league, national league side West Coast Fever, as well as for development squads and community activities.

The facility, which will seat 1,050, will be built at Matthews Netball Centre in Jolimont, and become part of the Town of Cambridge’s Wembley Sports Park plan.

“The State Netball Centre will be another exciting addition to the sporting landscape of Western Australia,” Mr Waldron said.

“Our partnership with the Town of Cambridge has already helped deliver 18 new outdoor netball courts, and another 30 courts will be progressively commissioned between now and the start of the 2013 netball season in May.”

Building will start in July and be completed by the third quarter of next year.
