WA sparkies most expensive in the country

Western Australian electricians are the most expensive in Australia, while the majority of the state’s other tradies are near the national cost average, according to new data out today.

Data from jobs website ServiceSeeking.com.au reveals that sparkies in WA charge about $90 an hour, with the Australian average sitting at $79/hr.

Electricians in NSW charge about $78/hr while in the ACT they cost $77/hr on average.

The data shows that plumbers cost $85/hr across the country, with WA plumbers charging slightly above that at $85/hr.

In hourly wages, WA carpenters charge $57/hr, well above the national average of $50/hr, but using a square metre rate WA residents pay 18.81 per less than the nation’s average.

Painters in WA charge 14.17 per cent less than the Australian average of $51/hr, while our plasterers cost about $8/hr more than the $50/hr average.

WA cleaners were slightly below the national average at $34/hr, while builders in WA charged on average $63/hr, with the national average at $71/hr.
