WA records 7,929 new COVID cases

Daily COVID cases have risen again following a drop-off in numbers earlier this week, with 7,929 new infections in Western Australia overnight as well as one historical death.
WA Health this morning also reported a historical death from April 30 of a woman in her 90s, which had been reported to the department yesterday.
There were 249 people with COVID-19 in hospital to 8pm last night, with eight people in ICU.
Of the 7,929 new COVID-19 cases reported to 8pm overnight, 2,087 were confirmed via PCR test and the remaining 5,842 self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.
It comes after the state reported 5,847 cases on Monday.
This morning’s update takes the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the state to 44,330.
More than 95 per cent of WA’s population over the age of 12 population have been double vaccinated.
