Western Australia’s daily COVID cases have jumped again, with 6,349 new infections and three historical deaths recorded overnight, including a man in his 30s.

This morning, WA Health confirmed three historical deaths had been reported dating back to April 6, including a woman in her 80s, a woman in her 60s, and a man in his 30s.

There are now 236 COVID positive patients being treated at hospitals across the state, with the number of people in intensive care now sitting at seven.

Today’s figures take the total number of active cases across the state to 40,169.

The daily cases recorded today represent a jump on the 4,993 new cases recorded yesterday, the lowest number of daily infections reported in almost one month.

It comes as the number of third dose vaccinations among those aged 16 and over exceeded 77 per cent.

Meanwhile, the state’s Royal Flying Doctor Service has reported that 21 per cent of the 174 patients flown by operations crews were suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients.

Almost half of those patients were from the Kimberley region, seven were from the Goldfields and six were from the Pilbara region.

Since the start of the pandemic, the RFDS have retrieved 241 confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients with no transmission detected between crew and patients.
