Vodafone appoints new GM for WA

Vodafone Australia has appointed Angela Newland as its new general manager for Western Australia, replacing Darren Hayes who has taken up a senior role at the company's head office in Sydney.

Ms Newland has worked with Vodafone for more than 15 years, both overseas and in Australia, and was promoted to the role after achieving excellent results heading sales teams in WA.

The appointment comes as the company embarks on an aggressive growth strategy with plans to upgrade and expand its network throughout WA over the coming year.

Ms Newland said Mr Hayes' success would be a hard act to follow.

"In Darren's four years as general manager, he more than doubled Vodafone WA's customer base and delivered the most productive distribution footprint and highest average revenue per user nationwide... but with the investment being made in the WA network and a fantastic team behind me, I intend to make our business even stronger in
2008," she said.
