Valmec wins more APLNG work

Perth-based engineering and construction business Valmec has won a $24 million contract to provide its services to the Australia Pacific LNG project in Queensland for Origin Energy.

Building on its relationship with Origin, Valmec will provide specialist technicians, equipment and parts under its preventative and corrective maintenance services offering to Origin, which is joint venture partner and operator of APLNG’s upstream gas compression and power generation assets.

Work under the initial two-year contract will begin immediately and will be managed from Valmec’s facilities in Dalby, Queensland.

“We are very pleased to have been selected by Origin as a service provider and be able to continue our strong working relationship,” Valmec managing director Steve Dropulich said.

“This contract is of strategic importance to Valmec as it is aligned with our mission of delivering value to our clients across every aspect of our operations and the entire project lifecycle.”

Last year, Valmec was awarded a contract to provide maintenance and overhaul services for equipment at the Talinga gas processing facility for Origin, which also forms part of the APLNG project.

Origin owns a 37.5 per cent stake in APLNG, with ConocoPhillips holding a 37.5 per cent interest and Sinopec owning the outstanding 25 per cent.

Valmec shares were 15.3 per cent higher to 15 cents each at 10:45am.
