Vale wins gong for sustainable design

A RESIDENTIAL development in the Swan Valley by Brookfield Residential Properties has been recognised by the Urban Development Institute of Australia for pushing the boundary in environmentally sustainable design.
Brookfield was awarded with a UDIA award for excellence in the residential development category at the weekend for its Vale development.
Vale will consist of 4,500 homes once completed, and has been one of Australia's fastest selling subdivisions, with 1,200 lots sold since 2004.
More than 23 per cent of the project site has been retained for bush land, wetland and parklands.
"The investment in integrated planning at Vale is part of a broader multi-jurisdictional approach Australia-wide," Brookfield Residential Properties managing director Anthony Rowbottam said.
The UDIA award is one in a series of recognitions for the community, which is Australia's first subdivision to offer a 9-star carbon neutral display home that uses 119 per cent less energy and 76 per cent less water than an average Australian house.
Vale also won a development excellence award from industry body Urban Taskforce in July.
