VDM's Civmec wins $30 million mine camp project

VDM Group Ltd subsidiary, Civmec Construction & Engineering Pty Ltd, has been awarded a $30 million contract to construct a permanent mine camp at Moorvale Queensland.

The deal with Transpac Capital Pty Ltd will see 480 accommodation units with support facilities built, including a sports centre gymnasium featuring squash and multi-purpose courts and a 25-metre swimming pool.

Construction is due to commence immediately on the $22 million first stage of the development, comprising 330 accommodation units and the support facilties.

The majority of the construction of this stage is expected to be completed this financial year with
the balance completed by November 2008.

Civmec managing director Stuart Cuthbert said it would engage the services of a number of VDM Group companies to complete the project including Burchill VDM , which will be responsible for the overall design and environmental approval process.

VDM Group chief executive John Farrell said the use of Ultrabuild's Quickloc building system, coupled with an innovative design, would ensure that the camp's standard of accommodation was significantly enhanced.

Civmec awarded $30 million Mine Camp Project in Queensland

Perth, 26 November 2007: VDM Group Limited (ASX: VMG) today announced that its subsidiary, Civmec Construction & Engineering Pty Ltd (Civmec), has been awarded a $30 million contract to construct a permanent mine camp at Moorvale Queensland by Transpac Capital Pty Ltd (Transpac). Transpac is an experienced accommodation services provider, specialising in owning and operating accommodation facilities for the mining
sector.
The Moorvale camp when fully operational will comprise 480 accommodation units with
support facilities, which include:
- a kitchen
- a dining and wet mess area
- laundry facilities
- recreational facilities
- a sports centre which comprises a gymnasium, squash and multi-purpose courts and a 25 metre swimming pool.
Construction is due to commence immediately on the $22 million first stage of the development, which comprises 330 accommodation units and the support facilties.
