FOR the second successive year the University of Western Australia has been named Employer of the Year in the higher education category at the Prime Minister’s Employer of the Year Awards.
The award, presented in Canberra last week, was for UWA’s commitment to employing people with disabilities.
More than 100 employees with disabilities, from a total staff of around 2,500, are employed in a range of academic and general staff positions at the university.
UWA also won another national award for strategies aimed at establishing an appropriate work/life balance for its staff earlier in the month.
