US partnership to fuel Titan's growth

Perth-based information and communications engineer Titan ICT Consultants has signed an agreement with a US-based group to enhance its underwater fibre optics services for the oil and gas sector.

Titan, which was established in 2003, said the collaboration with telecommunications group WFN Strategies would give clients access to unrivalled expertise in the field of underwater fibre communications consulting.

Underwater, or submarine, fibre optic systems allow for remote management of offshore operations, including access to closed circuit television systems, process controls, while also providing a platform for entertainment services including phone, television and internet.

WFN has extensive industry expertise, having provided telecommunications and underwater cabling support for oil and gas projects worldwide.

The partnership will see WFN design the submarine cable systems, while Titan will design the transmission systems that push data through the fibre.

Titan ICT managing director Mike Stegena said there was an increasing need for submarine fibre in WA’s oil and gas sector.

“It provides for increased through-put where conventional microwave and satellite links are not capable,” Mr Stegena said.

“Industries, in particularly oil and gas, have an increased requirement for high speed data to enable remote operations.

“Our partnership with WFN Strategies significantly increases the expertise in submarine fibre technologies currently available in the Australasian marketplace.”

WFN Strategies managing director Wayne Nielsen said the partnership would give oil and gas clients access to a significant new telecommunications capability.
